DescriptionSeven-columned kesa with decoration of clouds and phoenixes. Columns, dividing bands, border: white silk ground patterned with clouds and phoenixes in the long floats of the supplementary wefts. The flat gold-leafed paper and multicolored supplementary wefts are bound separately on a satin-weave ground. Shiten, niten: portions of the shiten, niten, and columns are no longer extant. In three places, the original fabric has been reinforced with white silk six-harness warp-faced twill weave fabric with patterns of reversed swastikas and paulownia. Lining: purple plain-weave silk.
