DescriptionTapering cylindrical body on spreading foot, chased above and below with bands of foliate scrolls and rococo ornament enclosing diaperwork. Spout with bird's head. Wood scroll handle with sockets formed of cast naturalistic scrolls. Hinged domed cover with similar chasing and a baluster finial. Engraved on one side with an oval rocaille and foliate scroll cartouche enclosing a (possibly later) crest.
Marks Struck under base with hallmarks (leopard's head, lion passant, date letter for 1736-7) and with maker's mark of Paul Crespin, the cover struck with lion passant.
