DescriptionOval shape, rests on four large fluted scroll feet. The border is cast and pierced with gadrooning, shells, and foliage. The center is engraved with a similar band enclosing a coat of arms capped by an earl's coronet within a rococo cartouche.
Marks
Struck on reverses with hallmarks (leopard's head, lion passant, date letter for 1749-50) and with maker's mark of Paul Crespin.
InscriptionsThe arms are those of Stanhope, probably as borne by Philip, 2d Earl Stanhope (1714-1786).
