DescriptionRectangular box with sloping sides and canted corners. Rests on four scroll feet with stylized shells ending in flat pads. The cover consists of two hinged covers engraved with a border of bireds, shells, and putti. Crests are in the center of each panel, and each interior compartment is divided in two.

Marks Struck under base with hallmarks (lion's head erased, Britannia, date letter for 1721-2) and with maker's mark of Paul de Lamerie.
InscriptionsThe crest of that of Howard, probably as borne by Thomas Howard, 8th Duke of Norfolk (1683-1732).
ProvenancePossibly made for Thomas Howard, 8th Duke of Norfolk (1683-1732); after his death by descent to Edward, 10th Duke of Norfolk (1720-1786).
