DescriptionIn shape like a skyphos, but much shallower. Thin walls; ring base; horizontal loop handles. Covered with black glaze inside and out. On bottom, black concentric circles on red ground. Intact.

Charles Lowell (b. 1782 - d. 1861), Cambridge, MA; to his son, James Russell Lowell (b. 1819 - d. 1891), Cambridge; to his daughter, Mabel Lowell Burnett (b. 1847 - d. 1898), Cambridge; to her son, Francis Lowell Burnett (b. 1878 - d. 1965), Manchester, MA [see note]; by inheritance to his widow, Helen Read Burnett (b. 1888 - d. 1985), Manchester; 1985, by inheritance to her daughter, Frances Lowell Burnett (b. 1914 - d. 2001), Manchester; 1991, gift of Frances Lowell Burnett to the MFA.
