DescriptionBronze, green patina. Obverse: Right profile of the head of an idealized woman, with her right hand lifted to toy with the beads around her neck. Above is inscribed: "APHRODITE". To the lower right is inscribed: "MCM JF XXXII". Reverse: Two male nudes, one falling onto his knees in exhaustion, the other about to stride forward, carrying the torch. The stump of a tree is visible behind the standing figure, and draperies swirl from both figures. Inscribed on left side, one-third from the top is: "SWIFT RUNNERS. In the exergue: "J.F. c Sc". Inscribed on side of medal (5 cm. width). At top: "The Society of Medalists Sixth Issue". At bottom: "Medallic Art Co. N.Y."
