DescriptionU.S. Mint Congressional Medal for Captain Thomas Truxtun (1755–1822). Voted by Congress on March 24, 1800. Copper medal. Obverse: Bust of Captain Truxton, in uniform, facing left. Reverse: Relief of naval action between the United States frigate Constellation, of 38 guns, Captain Truxton, and the French frigate, La Vengeance, of 54 guns, Captian Pitot. The Constellation has lost her main mast. Exergue (raised inscription): BY VOTE OF CONGRESS, TO/ THOMAS TRUXTON/24 MAR. 1800.
