Description(London: Petersburg Press, 1976) Folio; 29 "leaves" [accordion folds, bound]; original paper wraps (original publisher's beige cloth box; within gray phase box).

First edition with these illustrations; the French text was originally published in 1972, the English translation was made by the author for this edition. The illustrations consist of 33 etching and aquatints by Johns, printed by Atelier Crommelynck in Paris. In addition, a lithographic design by Johns is in the publisher's box. There were 300 copies, of which this is no. 142 of the regular edition of 250 (there were also 30 artist's proofs and 20 reserved).
