DescriptionMedallion - of Pan American Exposition on 1901 - Side 1: North American Indian smoking peace pipe with South American Indian - each has a shield beside him with the outline of his respective continent on it - at top, between the two figures, are the words: "Buffalo-V.S.A.-MCMI" on the edge of the South American Indian's shield is signed: "Hermon MacNeil" Side 2: buffalo bedecked with oak leaves with nude woman in flowing drape, holding winged globe, walking beside him - "Pan American Exposition" is written at the top of the medallion - "Grueby Faience Co." is inscribed below the scene and "Hermon MacNeil S.C." below that according to Dr. Norton, this medallion was presented to Grueby for the outstanding contribution he made to the field of ceramics.
