The Hundred Flower Garden (Hyakka-en) at Mukōjima, open to the public for a small admission fee, included plantings for every season. On view in autumn were the traditional Seven Herbs mentioned in classical poetry, with labels identifying them. Bush clover (hagi) is at the right, and the beds include bellflowers (kikyō), wild carnations (tokonatsu), and kudzu (kuzu) growing in front of a backdrop of tall pampas grass (susuki), yellow patrinia (ominaeshi), and Joe Pye weed (fujibakama).
