「櫻八題 樓門」
The Chion-in temple in Kyoto is the head temple of
the Pure Land Sect (Jōdō-shū), founded by Hōnen in
the 12th century. Its gigantic main gate, declared a
National Treasure by the Japanese government, is one
of the largest temple gates in Japan. The coats and
jackets worn by the visitors who climb the massive
stairs suggest that even though the cherries are
in bloom, the weather is still a bit chilly.
