[1] The verso of the drawing is annotated "Canaletti / View in the Lagunes / from the Beckford Collection." It sold in 1881 as "View on the Lagunes, From the Beckford and Esdaile Collections." There were seventeen "views of Venice" by Canaletto sold in the Fonthill Abbey auction under lot 170.
