Literary illustrations. First edition with these illustrations. Despite the 1806 date on all four volumes, the fourth volume (with only Gay listed as publisher) evidently appeared much later, as several plates carry dates as late as 1821. The majority of the illustrations are after drawings by Le Barbier, Moreau, and Monsiau, but several in the last volume are after Duvivier and Chasselat.
