First edition of this translation; the first edition was London, 1747-48. Sargent cites this copy as having the plates before letters. Engelmann catalogues only 15 illustrations by Chodowiecki for this edition. The frontispiece was engraved by F.D. after a drawing by André Pujos.
ProvenanceAcquired in 1926 by William A. Sargent, Boston (1858-1936), by whom bequeathed to MFA, November 17, 1937.
