Cohen-de Ricci 738; Bocher, Moreau, nos. 561-712
Description(Paris: l'Imprimerie de Monsieur [i.e., P.-F. Didot], 1790) Quarto; 38 leaves, plus 151 plates; modern gilt-stamped half brown morocco, marbled paper boards.
Illustrations of events in the history of France. The bibliography of this publication is complex; there is an outline in the Bibliothèque Nationale Inventaire (18th century), vol. 5, p. 467, under Dambrun; another is in Bocher's Moreau catalogue, pp. 204-06, with a concordance of the plates after Moreau between the two principal editions. This volume is a publication of the Moreau plates as they stood at the beginning of the Revolution, appended to the Discours of Dingé. This copy is incomplete, however, containing 151 plates only, and lacking the four maps called for. The final ten plates published by Moreau would not have been included yet, being issued in 1808.
The MFA also owns a set of proofs before numbers and text engraved on the plates (37.1436), datable before 1790; and a reprinting of the plates only issued by Renouard ca. 1813 (37.2147).
