Cohen-de Ricci 969-971 (1804 ed.)
Description([Paris: 1804]) Folio; 66 leaves; nineteenth-century gilt-stamped half brown calf, marbled paper boards.
Historical portraits; vignettes of revolutionary history.
A bound set of the portraits from volume 3 of the Collection complète des tableaux historiques de la Révolution française, presumably from the 1804 edition; Cohen-de Ricci (971) specifies that that edition contained 66 portraits, rather than the 60 of the 1802 edition. The medaillion portraits are engraved by Levachez, and are mostly wash-manner engravings with etching, not aquatints. The historical vignettes below the portraits are drawn and engraved by Duplessi-Bertaux. There are extensive engraved captions below.
MFA owns a complete copy of the 1802 edition of the Tableaux (37.2413a-c).
