Illustrations to Richardson's novel. Vols. 1-2 are the sixth edition; vols. 3-4 are with imprint "The Third Edition" (though published the same year). Fifteen of the plates are engraved by Gravelot after his own designs; the rest are after drawings by Hayman. The British Museum owns six of Gravelot's drawings for this edition; the Houghton Library owns four. A French edition was published by Osborn in the same year. There are advertisements by Osborn and Rivington bound at the end of vols. 2 and 4.
The plate facing p. 94 in vol. 2 is lacking.
The MFA has a second copy (accession number 37.1514a-d).
