False imprint; actually published by Cazin in Paris. The author portrait is unsigned; most of the plates are after drawings by Desrais, with one after Goujet and three unsigned. In addition to the listed engravers, others are signed "H...y" and "R. D***" The paper has a noticeably blue tone (bleuté).
ProvenanceUnidentified book label with monogram of letters "CCM"; acquired in 1905 by William A. Sargent, Boston (1858-1936), by whom bequeathed to MFA, November 17, 1937.
