Description(Amsterdam: Jean Frédéric Bernard, 1741) Quarto, three vols.; [v. 1] 285 leaves, plus 15 plates, [v. 2] 210 leaves, plus 5 plates, [v. 3] 209 leaves, plus 1 plate; modern gilt-stamped red morocco (Smeers).

Author portrait, engraved title, illustrations to Rabelais works, maps, views of author's home, plus numerous engraved vignettes. The full-page illustrations are engraved by Bernaerts, Folkema, and Tanjé after drawings by Dubourg (Houghton Library, Harvard, contains several of his drawings for these plates). The engraved title in vol. 1 is designed by Picart, as are all the engraved vignettes. The frontispiece to vol. 2 is designed and engraved by Folkema. The portrait and ancillary illustrations are unsigned.
