Catalogue Raisonné Cohen-de Ricci 796 (second ed.)
Description(Geneva [after 1763]) Quarto; 23 leaves; modern half gilt-stamped brown morocco, marbled paper boards. BOUND with Pezay, Nouvelle Zélie (1768) and Dorat, Les Tourterelles de Zelmis (1766).

Plates and vignettes illustrating pastoral, erotic poem. Second, undated edition, cited by Cohen-de Ricci. The engraved title is that used in the first edition, with "nouvelle édition" added. The letterpress text has been entirely reset [e.g., verses in 24 lines per page, rather than 21 for first ed.]; the plate and vignette before the third "chant" are still unsigned. The engraved title and several plates and vignettes have been lightly hand-colored. Cohen-de Ricci cites Delafosse as another engraver, but his signature does not appear on any plates. The MFA owns a large-paper copy of the first edition (37.1730); plus an elaborate facsimile edition of 1883 (37.1934).

BOUND with Pezay, Nouvelle Zélie (1768) and Dorat, Les Tourterelles de Zelmis (1766).
ProvenanceAcquired in 1905 by William A. Sargent, Boston (1858-1936), by whom bequeathed to MFA, November 17, 1937.
