Description(Augsburg: Heinrich Steiner, 1532) Folio; 344 leaves; modern calf binding (remains of original[?] blind-stamped calf mounted on spine).

Large woodcut of Wheel of Fortune on title page and 260 woodcuts by Hans Weiditz in text. First edition, in two parts, bound together. Part I: 156 leaves, 126 woodcuts (some repeated); Part II: 188 leaves, 135 woodcuts (some repeated). At times formerly attributed to Burgkmair (including by Hollstein), all the cuts are now attributed to Weiditz, who was known for years as the "Petrarch Master." Two are dated, 1519 (I, fol. 118v) and 1520 (II, 176r). The cuts, for which Sebastian Brant had supplied sketches (Dodgson), were completed by 1520 for another firm, Grimm and Wirsung, but not published until 1532 in this edition. A few were used in earlier publications, such as 33 in the 1531 Cicero (copy in MFA: 51.14).

MFA also owns 1604 Frankfurt edition (BR1205).
