DescriptionCircular medal of Pope Gregory XIV (1502-1585). Beaded rim on both faces.
Obverse: Profile bust of Gregory XIV looking to proper left, wearing a cap; inscribed at edge "·XIII·PON·MAX··GREGORIVS·" and on bust "NIC.BONIS".
Reverse: Pope seated at proper right on high chair with three attendees behind blessing a flag bearing a crucifixion presented by a kneeling warrior at proper left with three attendees; inscribed above "·DEXTERA·DOMINI·FACIAT·VIRTVTEM·" and in exergue "1[5]91".
