DescriptionCircular medal of Edward Vernon (1684-1757), admiral of the British fleet.
Obverse: Vernon standing at center with sword in right hand and mace in his left and a canon at proper left and a ship at proper right; inscribed at edge in band "THE.BRITISH.GLO[ ]RV.ADMIRAL.VERNON.".
Reverse: Multiple ships at a harbor; inscribed in band at edge "HE·TOOK·PORTO·BELLO·WITH·SIX·SHIPS·ONL·" and in exergue a cross and "NOV·22·1739".
