DescriptionCircular medal of Napoléon Bonaparte (1769-1821), first consul of France, commemorating the army's crossing at St. Bernard and the battle of Marengo.

Obverse: Profile bust of Napoléon looking to proper left above a relief of a battle scene and spoils and flags behind; inscribed at edge "BONAPARTE PREMIER CONSUL DE LA RÉPUBLIQUE FRANSE", below "MONTAGNY F", and in exergue "BATAILLE DE MARENGO/LE XXVI PRAIRIAI/AN VIII".

Reverse: Napoléon on horseback crossing at St. Bernard; inscribed below "MONTAGNY F. APRES ANDREIU" and in exergue "PASSAGE DE GU.ST.BERNARD/LE XXV FLOREAL/AN VIII.".
