Provenance1925, sold by the École Française d’Éxtrême Orient (EFEO) at the Musée Albert Sarraut, Phnom Penh, to the MFA. (Accession Date: November 5, 1925)
NOTE: The EFEO oversaw Cambodia’s archaeological initiatives and monument preservation. In 1923, it was decided to sell archaeological materials that were duplicative, fragmentary, or otherwise lacking “scientific or artistic interest.” Sales were held publicly at the Musée Sarraut under the supervision of the Directorate of Arts (Direction des Arts Cambodgiens).
