春の部。目白台近くを蛇行する神田上水を描く。右方は堰(せき)の修復工事に携わったとされることから、寛保3年(1743)の芭蕉の五十年忌に建てられた芭蕉庵。この辺りは椿の名所で椿山ともいい、近くの武家屋敷は椿山荘(ちんざんそう)と呼ばれた。 -- 藤澤紫K
