DescriptionCircular medal of Louis XVIII (1755-1824), king of France, commemorating an alliance between France and America. Stamped into edge "CUIVRE".

Obverse: Profile bust of Louis XVIII looking to proper left; inscribed on shoulder, under bust, and inscribed at edge "LVDOVICVS·XVIII FRANC·ET·NAV·REX", on shoulder "ANDRIEU F.", and below bust "DE PUYMURIN".

Reverse: Two classically dressed women leaning on herme at center; woman at proper right dressed in military dress and holding a cornacopia and shield with fleur-de-lis; woman at proper left semi-nude and horse behind; inscribed above "GALLIA·ET·AMERICA·FOEDERATA", at proper left "GAYRARD F.", on herme "MDCCCXXII", and in exergue "NOVIS·COMMERCIORVM·PACTIS/IVNCTAE".
Marks Stamped into edge "CUIVRE".
