DescriptionCircular medal of Napoléon (1769-1821), emperor of France, commemorating the commissioning of the Arc de Triomphe. From the "Histoire métallique de Napoléon le Grand prepare par la class d’histoire et de literature ancienne de l’Institut Impérial".

Obverse: Profile bust of Napoléon looking to proper left wearing laureate wreath; inscribed at edge "NAPOLEON EMP.ET ROI·", on shoulder "DROZ FECIT", and under bust "DENON DIREXI/MDCCCVI".

Reverse: Arc de Triomphe at center; inscribed below "BRENET F. FONTAINE ARC. DENON D." and in exergue "AUX ARMEES/MDCCCVI.".
InscriptionsObverse: Inscribed at edge "NAPOLEON EMP.ET ROI·", on shoulder "DROZ FECIT", and under bust "DENON DIREXI/MDCCCVI".
