局伊賀ハ 新田の四天王篠塚の女にて 吉野の皇居に仕えたる大力の夫人也 或夏夜園に出て涼ミしに 松の梢に化鳥ありて 局を呼ゆゑ 汝ハ何者なり と問 怪物答て 我ハ藤原の仲成が後の身にて 門院に恨みある者なり と さあらバ能に斗ひ得させんに 早く立されよ といふ 変化ハ是を聞て飛さりけり 翌日より法華経を転読さする事七日 終に妖怪出る事なし 後に楠正儀の室となる

NOTES:
[1] Much of Bigelow's collection of Asian art was formed during his residence in Japan between 1882 and 1889, although he also made acquisitions in Europe and the United States. Bigelow deposited many of these objects at the MFA in 1890 before donating them to the Museum's collection at later dates.
