宝飯(ほい)郡小坂井の東牛久保村に有 初此郷に住で躬(みずから)隴畝(ろうほ:畑)に耕しある時は別国に漂流して専(もつはら)軍学を鍛ふ 又天文地理を暁(さと)し韜略(とおりゃく)を諳じ胸中に八陣を蓄 此牛久保村を蟄(ちつ)す 其頃甲州の太守武田大膳大夫晴信駕(が)を枉(まげ)てこれを顧る事三度に及び人を屏(へい)して籌(はかりごと)を精好(せいかう)する事日々に密なり 日数僅に十五日の間に信州に於て九城を陥す 是皆軍師の計策に拠也 咸(みな)人云 和朝の臥龍(がりょう)明(みん)の劉基にも比せんや 其頃名高き竹中穴山佐奈田など此山本勘助が門子とそ聞えし

NOTES:
[1] Much of Bigelow's collection of Asian art was formed during his residence in Japan between 1882 and 1889, although he also made acquisitions in Europe and the United States. Bigelow deposited many of these objects at the MFA in 1890 before donating them to the Museum's collection at later dates.
