医ハ生死を預かるの大業なれバ女の知の及び難きところなれども、人身の病我と異なる事なし。さすれバ婦人の病苦を救ふハその頼みなきにしもあらず。

松永貞徳連歌の方式を規矩にして俳諧の方式を立しより連歌俳諧二物になりてこの道盛んに行われ、丹州の捨女、勢州の園女、加賀の千代いづれもこの道の名人なり。素園(千代女)が句に

NOTES:
[1] Much of Bigelow's collection of Asian art was formed during his residence in Japan between 1882 and 1889, although he also made acquisitions in Europe and the United States. Bigelow deposited many of these objects at the MFA in 1890 before donating them to the Museum's collection at later dates.
