DescriptionPlay: Wada Sakamori Eiga Kagami
Theater: Nakamura
和田酒盛栄花鑑(わださかもりえいがかがみ)
中村
This print strongly resembles 21.4017, identified as "Monnosuke II as the Temple Page Shiragiku" in a play of 1772.1. However, both this impression and the Chicago impression of 21.4017 have what appear to be contemporary inscriptions identifying the respective roles and dates. Possibly an attractive scene was repeated a year later in a slightly different play.

Bigelow deposited many of these objects at the MFA in 1890 before donating them to the Museum's collection at later dates.
