DescriptionUtaemon III played the role of Yojirô at the Nakamura Theater in the plays Koro mo Yayoi Hanago no Keizu in 1808 (Bunka 5) and Hade Sugata Meibutsu-ganoko in 1810 (Bunka 7).
「大当狂言」は文化後期のシリーズ。文化12年頃ヵ(新藤説)。
文化5年4月12日中村座「頃☆花児譜」二番目大切「堀川の段」(義太夫)に取材したものだが、本図の作成期は異なる。文化5年の外にも、文化7年1月中村座「艶容姿名物鹿子」で<3>中村歌右衛門は与次郎を演じているのでその上演を踏まえた可能性もあり。
