DescriptionRoundel, with head of Apollo in relief. Surface gilded, eyes once inlaid. Apollo appears as a musician, a corner of his lyre visible over his left shoulder. There is a laurel wreath on his wavy hair. Tresses fall over his shoulders. The border of the roundel is an encircling wreath of laurel leaves with beading on the inner edge. Some pitting and darkening of gilding; part of background missing and broken; relief portions complete and in excellent condition.
The roundel probably served as a phalera (an ornament of a horse's headstall).
