DescriptionOne side of a two-part diptych - two panels joined with a hinge or clasp and could be closed like a codex. This is an extremely rare example of a liturgical diptych, most likely from a church. What survives of the Greek inscription corresponds to a list of names of patriarchs of Alexandria, suggesting it provides a listing of the line of succession of recognized leaders of the Egyptian Coptic Church
