Between 2011 and 2025, the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston invited Oka Yoshiko, the former Professor of Otemae University who specializes in Japanese ceramics, and Louise A. Cort, Curator Emerita for Ceramics at the National Museum of Asian Art, Smithsonian Institution, to conduct an in-depth survey of works from Kyoto that had been acquired from Edward Sylvester Morse (1838 -1925) and make their insights available to the public: "Realistic rendering of crab for use as paperweight. Morse dated in catalogue to 1888. Since Morse interviewed Rokubei IV, this date is accepted."
