Between 2011 and 2025, the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston invited Oka Yoshiko, the former Professor of Otemae University who specializes in Japanese ceramics, and Louise A. Cort, Curator Emerita for Ceramics at the National Museum of Asian Art, Smithsonian Institution, to conduct an in-depth survey of works from Kyoto that had been acquired from Edward Sylvester Morse (1838 -1925) and make their insights available to the public: "Water ewer for sencha tea preparation. Porcelain body, and design suggest Meiji era. Morse identified in catalogue, without evidence, as Rokubei III, 1840–1870. Dates from 1868 to death in 1883."
