DescriptionAltar valance with design of lozenge patterns containing flowers, crane, swastika, crab and other symbols, in solid Florentine stitch embroidery on a silk gauze ground in red, blue, green, brown, tan and yellow silk; medallions in satin stitch with character "shou" in couched gold-wrapped thread; running dragons facing each other with character "shou" between them in couched gold-wrapped thread; silk damask ties attached along the top edge; lined with beige plain-weave silk.
