Description(Basel: Conrad Valdkirch [for Pietra Perna], 1589) Quarto; 81 leaves; 19th-century gilt-stamped red morocco (Alfred Matthews).
Illustrations: portraits within decorative borders, among whom are Christopher Columbus (fol. h2v) and the author (a1v). First edition of this text published in Venice in 1551; first Basel edition in 1575, also published by Perna (see Mortimer, Harvard Italian, 213). The cutting of the blocks has been attributed to Bernhard Jobin.
