DescriptionWorked by Abija Hall (1772-1864) or her sister Anna (Nancy) Hall (1776-1863) at Mary Balch's school. Four horizontal rows each containing nine squares of sample embroidery stitches, drawn and cut-work in white threads on white linen ground. Alphabets and numbers worked in red cotton in cross-stitch along lower edge. Handfinished on three sides: selvedge at left.
