Description(Dusseldorf: C. Schulgen-Bettendorff, 1838) Small folio; 32 ff. (31 etched plates and one letterpress leaf index); contemporary gilt-stamped embossed reddish cloth (faded--original publisher's color-printed wrappers bound in).

Literary and pastoral illustrations. Proof states of the illustrations only, without text. Issues of this title were issued by another publisher in Dusseldorf, and one in Leipzig. As noted on the title page, the etchings were printed in the printmaking studio of the Dusseldorf academy by C. Schulten-Bettendorff. Most of the artists both drew and etched their designs; only Steifensand, Keller, and Constantin Müller etched the drawings of Lessing, Schadow, and Hübner, respectively.
