DescriptionBust, three-quarters to left, wearing a dark coat and ruffled stock, with tree in background. Morris (1752 - 1816) was an Amercian statesman and diplomat. He records in his diary for May 1810 the arrival of James Sharples with wife and daughter to make his portrait, for which he sat on the 25th and 26th. Mrs. Sharples writes in her diary for July that she "Copied Mr. Morris for Mr. Ogden."
