DescriptionDeep blue glazed jar with high relief decoration of a cat facing a bird over an egg and a anther and gazelle with heads addorsed. Lotus calyx below. Rim largely restored. Some chipping and blistering on surface.
ProvenanceJune 12, 1993: New York, Sotheby's, Antiquities and Islamic Art, lot 74 ("property of a North American Private Collection," provenance stated as Cairo Dealer Nicholas Tano, who was active from about 1906 until his death in 1924); 1993: accesioned by the MFA.
