DescriptionPainting in hanging scroll (thangka) format with decorative stitched borders, no streamers or veil.
A large central figure of Buddha Shakyamuni sits on a lotus throne with his right hand in bhumisparsa mudra and his left hand in dhyana mudra holding a begging bowl. Below, at the center is a figure of Yama standing on his bull, engulfed in flames. To the left is White Tara and the right is Green Tara. To Shakyamuni's left is Manjushri with his sutra on a lotus. To his right is perhaps Amitayus, who has a vase on a lotus. Two yellow hat lamas, seated above on throne, appear to the left and right of the Buddha's head. Above, at top, reading left to right, are a Dalai Lama, a crowned Buddha(?) and Atisha. Painting is badly worn with much of the pigment void from the upper part of the painting.
