Heller 152, etc. (Sadeler edition); Illus. Bartsch, vol. X (Commentary), p. 21, copy 13, etc.
Description(N.p.: 17th century) Octavo; 15 leaves; modern half black calf, dark brown buckram boards (beige phase box).
Copies of Dürer's Little (Engraved) Passion. Marcus Sadeler is not known as a printmaker himself, according to Hollstein, and his relationship as a publisher to his large family is not known, either. Each plate (averaging about 9 x 5.5 cm each) in this set is inscribed in the plate "Marco Sadeler excudit." It is not known where or when this set was published. While it came to the museum with a tentative date of about 1610, Marcus Sadeler's birthdate makes that unlikely.
