DescriptionSeven-columned kesa with decoration of dragons and phoenixes. Columns, dividing bands, border: gold silk ground with figured patterns of dragons, phoenixes, Chinese lions, peonies, and pomegranate roundels. On a gold ground the roundels are rendered in supplementary patterning wefts, leaving very little undecorated space. Shiten, niten: white silk three-harness warp-faced twill ground with woven-in designs of cranes and clouds in supplementary wefts of flat gold-leafed paper thread. Lining: peach plain-weave silk.
