Description(Paris: the author, about 1602) Oblong folio; 56 leaves; contemporary limp vellum, tan cloth box.
Calligraphic examples. The publication date is assigned from the 1602 date of the letterpress royal privilege given to Baptiste de Beaugrand bound at the end of the volume. The MFA copy has three leaves of letterpress dedications to the king, queen, and the dauphin that are not present in the Harvard copy (Becker 45), but does not have the "Six considerations" and the account of de Beaugrand's dispute with Le Gangneur that are present in the Harvard copy. The latter copy contains 57 engraved writing samples, as opposed to the MFA's 46. The MFA does not have the engraved portrait of de Beaugrand (it was apparently cut from the volume, as there are two stubs present after the engraved coat of arms, the first of which clearly was the portrait, having offset on the verso of the arms folio.
