Description(Leiden: Elzevier, 1628) Royal folio; 141 leaves, plus 57 plates; contemporary gilt-stamped brown calf (covers only; rebacked in light brown calf).

Engraved title, author portrait, decorative coats of arms, allegorical explanations of human proportion relating to swordsmanship skills; demonstrations of fencing tactics

First edition; despite title page date, not finished until 1630. The author died before completing the second half of his treatise dealing with equestrian combat. By far the most elaborate treatise on fencing. See Hollstein volumes for details on the prints by each engraver.
