DescriptionA large Iznik plate, whose back is decorated with five closed crescents, outlined in black and filled in green, with the smaller circle in reserve. These alternate with five trilobed figures filled in blue. On the front of the plate, the flat rim is delineated by single black concentric lines. It bears a version of the Chinese rock and wave pattern in black, with small green and blue incursions. The cavetto is undecorated except for a thin frieze of spiky leaf forms in blue, green and raised red. Inside a double line, the well is dominated by a pair of incurving leaves in reserve, with cloud-like edges and terminating in a flower-like Rumi shape. These large leaves have red accents, as do some indeterminate figures that appear to extend under the rim of the design, and resemble the small central medallion. The ground between the Saz leaves is painted with blue scales, while the remainder of the ground is scaled in green.
