DescriptionDecoration Description: Clay pale buff with bits of mica. Slight remains of white and red (?): Interior, Large female head with white on necklace; in front an elaborate scroll once red (?); near the edge a narrow garland once red (?); Exterior, wave pattern near the edge.. Shape Description: Low bowl without stem, angular handles.

Attributed to the Asteas-Python Workshop
350-330 B.C.
Interior: A large female head faces left, wearing a dotted hairband and a red necklace with white beads. A white wreath circles the inner rim, and a scrolling tendril, also white, fills the area before the woman's chin; both are nearly effaced. There is a short, reserved scroll at the lower right.
Exterior: A wave-pattern circles the outer rim. The handles are half-black and half-reserved.
In RVAp, II, Trendall and Cambitoglou suggested this cup nmight be placed somewhere near the Apulian Group of Zurich 2660, but in RVP Trendall opted for a Paestan origin, "leading on to the work of the Painter of Naples 2585."
